Toe River Arts Presents Yancey County Student Art Showcase
Burnsville, NC — Toe River Arts is pleased to present the Yancey County Student Art Showcase, featuring artwork by K–12 students from local schools. The exhibition highlights the creativity and artistic efforts of young artists in the community and offers them the opportunity to have their work displayed in a professional gallery setting.
The public is invited to attend an Open House reception celebrating the participating students:

Due to the snow, frigid temperatures and icy secondary roads, Yancey County Schools will be Closed for students and employees on Monday, February 2, 2026.
We will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions throughout the week and announce schedule changes each afternoon.

UPDATE - Phone lines should be operational again. Thank you to Frontier for working so quickly!
Yancey County Schools families, we are aware of the outage of Frontier services which affects the phone lines at many of our campuses. We have been informed that they are currently working to fix the issue. If you need to get in contact with your child's school, please email the principal or your child's teacher. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Due to the Cold Weather Advisory and dangerous wind chills, Yancey County Schools will be on a 2 hour delay on Friday, January 16, 2026. Buses will not run on icy roads.
There are currently snow showers across the county so we will assess the roads in the morning and make any changes by 6:30 a.m. The delay will give us time to make sure all of our buses and mechanical systems are working properly on our school campuses.

Due to the Winter Weather Advisory of accumulating snow, high winds and dangerous wind chills, Yancey County Schools will be Closed. We will have a Teacher Workday on Thursday, January 15, 2026
